Luanda — Citizens of the Angolan capital, Luanda, expressed satisfaction at the characteristics of roads of access to the stadium that will host games of the African Cup of Nations (CAN2010) in football, including car parks, public lighting systems and traffic lights.
During a reporting by the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) it was observed that the new roads were built with modern engineering, including metal and concrete-made public leisure sites covered with glass and seats for four or more people.
A passer-by on the Camama intersection with Sapu ward told ANGOP that the new roads with parking spaces guarantee comfort and security.
On his turn, the taxi-driver Domingos Francisco said that the new spaces show the country's dynamics in terms of civil engineering.
Jorge Venâncio, a resident of Sapu ward, said that after these new undertakings, with the progress of housing projects, the government will increase services of identification, notary publics, schools and police stations, among other institutions in the capital city.
To reach the stadium, four more direct roads are under construction, namely the Cabolombo/Viana/Cacuaco highway, one in the inner regions of Sapu ward and another in the outskirt. These roads are linked to other coming from the northern Bengo province, from
Luanda's city centre and from its outlying wards with highlight to the Luanda/Viana highway.
The road in the interior region of Sapu ward is under the aegis of the "Camargo Corrêa" construction firm covering 7,5 kilometres with two lanes with 3,5 metres each, pavements of 2,5 metres, flower beds of 10 metres, public lighting and waste water drainage ditches.
Other stadiums are being built in the cities of Cabinda, Benguela and Lubango, for the CAN that Angola will host in January 2010.
