Luanda — With three goals by David and others by Tunga and Joka, Petro de Luanda on Sunday thrashed Académica do Lobito by 5-1, and consolidated their lead in the national first division football championship, Girabola2009.
Played at the Cidadela national stadium, in the country's capital (Luanda), the match was part of the 14th round and with this win, Petro, trained by the Portuguese Bernardino Pedroto, now have 37 points, whilst Académica remain at the bottom of the table with four. Lau scored the goal of honour for Académica do Lobito.
In Benguela province, 1º de Agosto (runner up) beat 1º de Maio by 3-2 at the Municipal stadium. Bena, twice, and Love Kabungula scored for 1º de Agosoto, whilst Lunguinha and Kalala reduced for the hosts.
At Curicutelas stadium, Recreativo da Caála and FC Bravos do Maquis drew nil-nil. Due to this results, Petro de Luanda is leading the competition with 37 points, followed by 1º de Agosto (29) and Académica do Soyo (28). The third and positions are being occupied by Benfica de Luanda and Recreativo do Libolo, both with 22 points.
The round shall be concluded on Tuesday and Wednesday with the following encounters: Recreativo do Libolo-Atlético Sport Aviação (ASA), in Calulo (Kwanza Sul province), and Kabuscorp do Palanca-Interclube, at Coqueiros stadium, in Luanda.
