Gambia: 'Government Creates Conducive Environment for the Rights of the Child'

Hon. Marie Saine-Firdaus, attorney general and minister of Justice, has said that the Government of The Gambia under the able leadership of His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, recognises the role of the children in The Gambia and that it will always ensure that the rights of the child are protected, as well as create a conducive environment for them in the country.

Minister Firdaus made this remark last Saturday, during the commemoration of the Children's Bantaba as part of celebrations of the Day of the African Child, held at the Kanifing Municipal Council Hall. The minister recalled that commemoration of this day started in1991, and that it serves as a remembrance of the role of the children in the struggle for their rights in South Africa, in 1976.
