Kenema — The Bo/Kenema power services (BKPS) that supplies electricity to Bo and Kenema - the two headquarter towns of the south and the east respectively - has resumed twenty four hours power supply in the areas.
The management of BKPS has been under intense criticism during the dry season, especially when the water table at the Dodo hydro dropped to a lower level, a development that caused the unstable power supply in the two townships.
Jeremy Morray, commercial manager BKPS said the source of power for his organization is the Dodo hydro, which effectiveness depends on water.
He said power supply becomes very erratic in the dry season due to the fall in the water table, but that supply becomes effective when the rains begin to fall heavily.
"Once it rains and the water table rises to the expected level, the hydro will be able to serve the two towns with uninterrupted electricity," he said.
He called on consumers to pay their bills to enhance continuous and effective services.
Mustapha Moriba, a consumer residing in Kenema commended BKPS for the improved supply of electricity lately.
He said the 'Kabba Tigers', Chinese made generators which people had depended on for power during the dry season, have now become useless, and that the distressing noisy atmosphere caused by the machines at night was no more.
"We had suffered a lot from continuous blackout, but with this new development those bitter memories are now behind us. We only hope the supply will be consistent," Moriba said.
