Angola: Ex-Brazilian President Satisfied With Country's Progress

Luanda — The former president of Brazil, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, on Tuesday here expressed to the Angolan Statesman, José Eduardo dos Santos, his satisfaction at the changes that have been occurred in the African country, Angop has learnt.

This was said during an audience President José Eduardo dos Santos granted to that official, who is visiting Angola since Monday.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Fernando Henrique Cardoso said that he also

debated with President José Eduardo dos Santos matters related to the bilateral relations that have been increased as well as the international panorama.

Commenting on the personality of President José Eduardo dos Santos, he said he knows him well and he thinks he is a "peaceful man" who is confident with what is happening in Angola.

With regard to the invitation addressed to the Angolan statesman to participate in the G-8

Summit, in Italy, Fernando Henrique Cardoso said it is an important step.

This group of countries is aware that alone they cannot go far as there is already an equilibrium both for the opening and the greater democratization of the main institutions that rule the world, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

During the audience, Fernado Henrique Cardoso, offered a book written by him entitled The Art of Politics.
