Uganda: Six Abducted in Sudan

Kampala — A security team from Uganda and the SPLA are searching for six youth from Kitgum district suspected to have been abducted in Southern Sudan last week.

The youth from Agoro and Madi-Opei sub-counties were abducted by unknown people as they returned from a market near Tere-Tenya.

It is said the youth had reportedly gone to buy sorghum.

Regional Police spokesperson Johnson Kalama said some of the missing youth were Constantine Okwera, 28, from Guda village, Madi-Opei sub-county, Patrick Omona, 28, from Tegot-Kwera village and James Komakec, 24, a resident of Ywaya village both from Agoro.

The identities of the other three have not been established. The Police and residents in Agoro said the young men left for Sudan on June 16 and the news of their abduction came in on June 17 and 18.

The Agoro sub-county LC3 chairperson, Ben Owali, said: "We have not confirmed whether they have been killed or are being held captive by the Dinka."

He said some items believed to belong to the men had been found in the bushes.

The resident district commissioner, Alfred Omony-Ogaba, said the teams were making progress with the search.
