Jos — The University of Jos Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has set up monitoring committees to ensure that members comply with the directive for a total strike as declared by the national body.
The committees were constituted at a congress yesterday where members were fully briefed on the Akure meeting where the decision to commence the strike was taken.
It was learnt that officials stressed the need for every member to comply by not participating in any form of activity while the strike lasted.
A circular to members jointly signed by the branch Chairman, Dr. Timothy Namo and Secretary, Ayuba Larab, said there shall be no teaching of undergraduate, post graduate of part time students "under whatever guise."
The circular also said there shall be no statutory meeting including council, senate, faculty or departmental boards, appraisal committees, field trips or supervision of students on industrial attachment as well as setting of examination, grading or processing of result.
The circular warned that the monitoring committees were "to forward to the national secretariat names of all strike breakers for appropriate action."
