Lagos — The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board has decried illegal construction of buildings in primary schools in the state. The Board specifically said such structures were erected without its consent.
Chairman of the Board, Chief Sina Adejobi, who expressed displeasure at a media briefing weekend enjoined philanthropists, individuals, and corporate bodies willing to erect structures in primary schools to seek the approval of the Board.
The SUBEB boss said the essence of seeking the Board's approval is to safeguard the lives of children through supervision of buildings by its competent engineers. He reiterated that potential philanthropists should therefore contact the Board whenever donations were to be made.
He refered to a case presently reported in Abeokuta South local government where a school fence was forcefully pulled down when the school was not in session and nobody was around to locate the site for the structure being erected.
