Ugandan pop artistes that would like a shot at landing a Mama nod have until June 30 to submit their music videos. The Mamas (MTV Africa Music Awards) will be handed out in Nairobi on October 10 and eligibility is by way of music video rotation on MTVbase between August 16, 2008 and June 30, 2009.
Artistes can submit music videos to Gabby Abrahamse, MTV Networks Africa, P.O. BOX 411855, Craighall, 2024, South Africa on the DV Cam format. Additional information about the Mamas is available at www.mama.mtvbase.com on the Facebook Mama fan site and on Twitter at http://twitter.com/mtvbase.
And it will not only be established artistes walking away with trophies at the second edition of the pan-continental award show. Wannabe music stars will also be in on the action and one lucky amateur singer will step up to the podium to give an acceptance speech. The special My Video award is open to amateur singing enthusiasts from across the continent and anyone that thought they could only sing in the shower.
Vocalists, be they solo acts or singing groups, that are aged 18 or older and desire to move their singing dreams from the shower cubicle onto the world stage only need to create a short video clip of themselves singing any song and send it to MTV before 27 July. The clip could be your own composition, the latest radio hit or a classic track from any popular youth oriented music genre like hip hop, R&B, genge, dancehall, hiplife, kwaito, pop, rock, alternative, reggae and so on. Submissions should be no more than two minutes long and entries can be on DVD or MP4 formats.
They should be send alongside a My Video application form to: My Video Submissions, MTV Networks Africa,
P.O. BOX 411855, Craighall, 2024, South Africa. Tech savvy entrants can upload their videos on www.mama.mtvbase.com under the My Video section, or email them to:
