Luanda — The former Brazilian President, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, advised on Wednesday in Luanda the Angolan youths to take up the teaching career and invest in scientific research, to better contribute to the resolution of social problems in the country.

The former Head of State said so when he was visiting the premises of the Law Faculty of the Angolan public Agostinho Neto University (UAN) and Angola's Catholic University (UCAN), where he shared his political and academic experience with students and lecturers.

During the visits, the Brazilian scholar spoke about the history of universities founding in his country, the importance of the teaching process for the citizen's mind formation, integration and democratisation of the societies.

Fernando Henrique Cardoso was accompanied by the chancellor of the Angolan public Agostinho Neto University, João Teta.

Sociologist and professor, Fernando Henrique Cardoso was the first President of Brazil to have won and served two consecutive presidential elections, from 1 January 1995 until 1 January 2003.
