Luanda — The investment project dubbed "Cacuso Agro-Industrial Unit" in the northern Malanje Province, estimated at USD 272.3 million, aims at cultivating the sugar cane, produce sugar, alcohol and electricity.
According to a press release, the project, which was approved last Wednesday by the Cabinet Council, will be implemented in Cacuso District and it is expected to create nearly 500 direct jobs, from which 350 for national citizens and 700 indirect jobs.
On the other hand, the Cabinet authorised an increase in investment of the mobile phone company Unitel, at the amount of USD 1.7 billion, in order to improve its quality of services, modernisation of equipment and adapt to the constant technological changes of the sector, as well as the continuous increase of employment demand, in accordance with the level of expansion of the services countrywide.
The Cabinet Council also approved the contract of the works for the implementation of infrastructures in the ambit of integrated project for family poultry-breeding, which was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Korean companies Hansol EME Co.Ltd and Truelife Co. Ltd.
The referred project will be implemented in the districts of Cacuso and Lucala, in the northern provinces of Malanje and Kwanza Norte, respectively.
The government also approved the accord of financing between Angola and the African Fund for Development, which is aimed at supporting the environment sector during for a five-year period in the field of Integrated Environmental Convention and Management of Human Resources.
