Cameroon: Feminine Football Cup of Cameroon Finals This Weekend

The final will pit Lorema of Yaounde against Franck Rohliceck of Douala on Sunday.

The final of the feminine football cup of Cameroon will take place next Sunday June 28 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo sports complex. The finals will pit Lorema football club of Douala against a new force to reckon with in feminine football, Franck Rohliceck.

Lorema got top the finals by beating Sawa United Muyuka Women and the Black Queens in the quarter and semi finals respectively. While Lorema is an old timer in feminine football, Franck Rohliceck is the new kid on the block having eliminated old clubs like Louves and defending champions, Canon in the quarter and semi finals respectively. Franc Rohliceck and Lorema have upset the apple cart in feminine football as the competition has been dominated in the past by teams like Canon, Justice and Louves to a lesser extent.

The final of the feminine football cup of Cameroon is taking place at a time when a delegation from the World football governing body, FIFA is in Cameroon to evaluate the progress of the game and make amends for the further development of the discipline. After an audience with Cameroon's Minister of Women empowerment and the Family, Suzanne Mbomback, the head of the FIFA delegation, Swiss born Jean Marie Conz, identified the lack of good football pitches, equipment and trained coaches as impediments to the development of feminine football in Cameroon. An argument that was concurred by the president of the Feminine football commission at the Cameroon Football Federation, Rose Nyobe, who said, "We have to start from the ground to improve the level of all those concerned particularly with the training of coaches." FIFA intends to assist Cameroon draw up a development plan for feminine football, participate in the training of trainers and players alike as well as advocate for the introduction of feminine football in schools.
