26 June 2009

Kigali — Egypt's Ahmed Fathi has been ruled out f the Egyptian side which will play against Rwanda in the 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier on July 5 in Cairo.

Fathi aggravated his knee injury over the weekend in the on-going Confederation Cup which is being held in South Africa.

The versatile midfielder initially picked up a knee ligament injury during Egypt's stunning 1-0 victory over world champions Italy in the Confederations Cup last week.

He was deemed fit to play against the US but his participation in the Pharaohs' embarrassing 3-0 defeat proved costly.

He limped off the pitch few minutes after the restart, making way for defender Ahmed Saied 'Ouka'.
