Mr. Augustine Kanjia, a reporter and columnist at the Point newspaper, and also the Assistant Communication Officer of the Network of Human Rights Journalists (NHRS)- The Gambia, who was arrested on 22 June, within the premises of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, where seven of his media colleagues were appearing on seditions charges is released on bail.
It could be recalled that Mr. Kanjia was arrested among the crowd and whisked to the Serrekunda Police Station where he was detained until the afternoon of Wednesday, 24 June, when he was released. Mr. Kanjia is yet to be charged, but was given Police bail of D50, 000 with a Gambian surety. He was asked to report the following day at the Police Station.
