Johannesburg — Brazilian striker, Kaka, was named this year's recipient of the converted 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup Golden Ball award.
As the FIFA tradition dictates, accredited media were asked to vote for the most outstanding player of the tournament to receive the award.
Each participating journalist selected three top players from a short list of candidates nominated by the FIFA technical study group. A first vote is worth five points; a second three points while a third vote garnered 1 point.
Kaka came out tops and was presented his trophy at the end of the final match between Brazil and the USA last night.
The Fair Play trophy went to another Brazilian, Fabiano, while the Golden Glove, an inaugural award for goal keepers, went to the United States of America's number one Tim Howard.
USA's Clint Dempsey's stunning performance throughout the tournament earned him a Bronze Ball, while Lucio from Brazil snatched the Silver Ball.
Brazil's 3-2 win over USA made them the first team to win the tournament three times in a row.
