Uganda: Tough Job for Rugby Cranes in Tunis Battle

Kampala — Battered comprehensively by clinical Tunisia 41-17 at home two weeks ago, the Rugby Cranes will jog onto the Stade El Menzah stadium in Tunis in full throttle mood to try and overturn what already looks like 'mission impossible.'

Before departure coach Yayiro Musisi Kasasa made it clear that his charges had nothing to lose after having been outwitted in front of their partisan fans and vowed that it was time for them to make amends. "The guys have to put their bodies on line because we are on the brink of losing our title as African Champions. We will try to swing the ball to the wings and hopefully run rings around their backs. The deficit is immense but in sport it's not over until it's over," the New-Zealand trained coach, told Saturday Monitor, in a philosophical tone.

The gulf in class and International Rugby Board (IRB) rankings do not do Uganda any justice with the Cranes ranked at 42, 14 places above the high-riding North Africans who could climb one spot to 27th at Kazakhstan's expense if they defeat Uganda again.

"I guess we have to beat Tunisia 50-26 to have any chance of qualifying. We will do that and that's why we have continued to work out every day in a bid to rectify our mistakes," joked Williams before the team departed on Wednesday.
