Uganda: Lukungu Loses Again in National Trials

Norman Katende

28 June 2009

Kampala — WAISWA Lukungu was given a rude reminder that he has to stay focused if he is to make an impact at the World University Games after he was beaten for the second successive time at a national trial.

Lukungu, the reigning 400m national champion, lost to UPDF's Daniel Okiror at Namboole on Saturday.

The more experienced Lukungu had himself to blame for the loss, having relaxed towards the 350m mark.

Okiror out-sprinted Lukungu and went on to win the race.
