Tanzania: Netball Team Retains Title At Regional Military Games

Military Combine team proved that its last years' victory was no fluke after reclaiming the East African Military Games title in Kigali, Rwanda.

Playing in a round-robin format, the back-to-back champions managed to win all their matches, according to the Tanzania People's Defence Forces sports director, Isaro Chacha.

The team comprised mainly of players from Jeshi Stars and JKT Mbweni.

The military teams represented Tanzania in five sports that are soccer, handball, netball, boxing and athletics.

Tanzania finished third overall in boxing with middleweight boxer Joseph Martin claiming the only gold medal.

Rajabu Omar (flyweight), Omar Saleh (light fly) and Hashim Simon (lightweight) won silver medals while Leonard Machichi grabbed a bronze medal.

The official also said they had impressive results in handball as they claimed the second position while in soccer they finished third.

Chacha said his players did not to shine in athletics and promised to take measures that would boost performances in the next edition.
