Tanzania: Yanga to Test Canon Marksman

The Canon Yaoundé striker, Rober Jaina Mba arrives today ready to under go trial with the Vodacom Ppremier League champions, Young Africans.

Young Africans chairperson, Iman Madega said yesterday that Mba would jet in aboard of Kenya Airways and later meet with the team head coach, Dusan Kondic.

Madega said that Mba is among the five foreign players who have been invited for trial and Young Africans incur all costs f his stay in the country.

He said that Mba decided to tray professional career in Tanzania after being impressed with the club success recorded last years in the both national and international levels.

Madega said the coming of the players will mark the first attempt from Cameroon, one of the African countries with advanced soccer standard.

, open the firat behas been influenced with the team following its status and as per pre information, he is good player.

"But his reputation as a player from one of the most successful clubs in Africa doesn't assure him a place in our club. He has to attend trails like other players and the head coach would decide if he qualifies or not," said Madega

According to Madega, Young Africans plan to sign only four foreign players out of more than eight foreigners seeking recruitments at the moment.

Madega named other players vying for recruitment as Steven Bengo from Uganda, Abdulkharim Kamanzi (Rwanda), and Kabongo (Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Kenyan Moses Odhiambo.

Madega said that their club covers the expenses of the players only and not others.

He said that Odhiambo has passed the trial and is expecting to sign contract with Young Africans later.

"Other players are here for their own costs, club can not pay them for accommodation or any other costs, they are here looking chances in the club," said Madega.

Madega said that they are proud to see many players are know the club and want to join.

Madega also said that the registration exercise proved to be very tough due to the silence of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to release the new rules and regulations involving foreign players .

"We do not know how many foreign players a club can sign for the next league season," he said.

Madega explained that they could not announce how many players to be recruited for the next season as the meeting to involve the club representatives is yet to be conducted.

"You can sign five players, later TFF will say only three players are eligible, how can you deduct the players from your list, this will also leave us with the huge loss," he said.

Concerning with the poor profile of the players who are now in trial, Madega said that most of the West African players are good although they can not feature for the national team.

"Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast have so many players who are playing abroad, they have more than two national team comprising professional players, even if there will be good player locally, he will not be famous, but those who are in trial are good and we are now in hardship to decide,"he said.
