Nigeria: Police Nab 22 Suspected Robbers, Kidnappers in Enugu

Enugu — THE Enugu State Police Command yesterday, paraded 22 suspected criminals, including armed robbers, kidnappers and rapists arrested recently in different parts of the state.

Among those paraded were Anayo Frank and Kenneth Mamah, who the police said had confessed to being involved in series of kidnappings, in the South East and South-South zones of the country.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Zarewa, told newsmen that the suspects also confessed to bank robberies and attack on a bank bullion van in the eastern part of the country and the killing of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) and many policemen in Edo State. They are part of the five-man gang arrested at a police check-point in Enugu metropolis last week.

He said that items recovered from the gang included two AK 47 rifles, 450 rounds of live ammunitions, one makarof pistol with 12 rounds of live ammunitions, a Toyota Avensis car with registration number EY 170 ABC, a Mazda 363 model with registration number AJ 676 RUM, two handcuff keys and one handcuff.
