His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, president of the Republic, last Friday, received in audience at his office at State House in Banjul, Gilles Hervio - the European Union Ambassador for Gambia and Senegal.
Speaking to journalists shortly after his audience with the Gambian leader, Ambassador Hervio explained that his discussion with President Jammeh centered on the cooperation between The Gambia and the European Union. Their discussion, he said also touched on the EU's new budget support for The Gambia, as well as how to maintain the micro-economic stability of the country and to improve lives of the people through the provision of education and health.
To achieve these, the European Union official observed, the commitment of the people towards development is need. "The European Union does know that a large number of donor partners are coming to The Gambia, but we will support The Gambia in all ways," Ambassador Hervio stated. According to him, though progress has been made over the past years, challenges still continue to linger.
Ambassador Hervio also commended The Gambia government for the achievements it has registered over the years, especially in the areas of health and education.Website created with Lara .geographical media

moloh, i think u have a sick mind. In the west, u and i can voice out our protests against human rights violations without fears of being tracked down and shot, kidnapped or put secretly in jail. U know that and don't be an idiot by pretending not knowing!

Its terribly disappointing that the EU Ambassador Mr. Gilles failed to raise the unrgent issue of human rights with Gambian President. If indeed he did raise the matter in private, he sgould atleast express general support for the rule of law and good governance. The EU envoy failed conventional expectations.
