Nigeria: Preacher Tasks Kano Assembly On Ja'afar's Murder

30 June 2009

A renowned Islamic scholar and chairman of the Jama'atul Izalatul Bid'ah Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Kano, Dr Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan has urged the Kano State House of Assembly to assist in the investigation into the murder of the late cleric, Sheikh Ja'afar Mahmood Adam.

The preacher who led a delegation of Islamic preachers to the speaker said though they remain patient and law-abiding, they wouldn't want the commitment of such a heinous crime to go unpunished.

He informed the speaker of his organisation's willingness to work towards sustaining the peace in the state which is one of its features since inception in 1978. He added that they will not relent in efforts aimed at promoting unity and coexistence.

The Speaker Alhaji Abdulazeez Gafasa called on the organisation to keep praying so that those involved in the killing of the late cleric would be found and brought to justice.
