Nigeria and Turkey have signed an agreement for the establishment of Nigeria-Turkish Business Council (NTBC).
This is to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Minister of Labour and Productivity, Adetokunbo Kayode, while receiving Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Aukut Sezgin, on Monday in Abuja said measures have been taken to register the new council with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Kayode said the council was established to provide a platform for Nigerian businessmen who desire to do business with their Turkish counterparts as well as providing global partnership between both countries.
Although the board for the council is yet to be inaugurated, Kayode disclosed that those to be part of it are Segzin, representatives of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Small and Medium Enterprises Development of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Ministries Agriculture, Commerce and Industry as well as Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
According to him, "the council will provide opportunity for Turkish businessmen and Nigerians to exchange business ideas and enable both countries to establish a global partnership which will cover areas of training, technology transfer, investment, employment generation and trade generally".
