Bauchi — Embattled Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Gadi, who is facing impeachment threat for not defecting along with the state governor,Mallam Isa Yuguda, into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has debunked rumours that he had resigned.
Addressing a press conference in his office yesterday, Gadi said though he had received calls and messages from some prominent personalities advising him to resign, so as to get his full benefits that include N100 million, he refused, saying it would be most dishonourable for him to resign when a panel has been set up to investigate him.
Addressing the press in company of three All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) members of the state House of Assembly, Gadi called on all well-meaning Nigerians who stand for justice, to offer prayers and fast for him, so that he may triumph.
The state chapter of the ANPP also yesterday asked the state office of INEC to, as a matter of legality, declare seats of the 16 members of the state House of Assembly who decamped from the party to the PDP vacant, withdraw their certificates of return and immediately organise fresh elections to fill the vacancies.
The ANPP declared its stand at a press conference held late Sunday night at the Bauchi state secretariat, pointing out that by virtue of Section 109 Sub Section 1 (g) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic, members elected under the banner of the party in 2007 cease to be members of the Assembly since they have now left the party for another party.
