Nigeria:Mushin LG Boss to Sponsor Ten for 0pen Trials

30 June 2009

Lagos — As part of its effort to empower the youth in Mushin Local council, Chairman Honourable Babatunde Adepitan has disclosed plans to sponsor 10 players to Open Trials Talent Hunt, which begins on July 21 in Kaduna. The players would try their luck in the Abeokuta zone in the trials, which also has Enugu and Osogbo as centres.

Adepitan said his administration is seeking for ways to help talented youths in the local government area and have decided to show this by sponsoring 10 players to the event. He noted that the event would afford the players the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of football scouts who would be present at the venue. The LG boss stated that it would be a life-changing experience for any of the players who make the cut at the trial calling on those who would be chosen to be good ambassadors of the local government area.

"I must say that this is an avenue for me to invest in the youth with the hope that it would yield dividends. Hopefully some of them will catch the eye of foreign scouts, get good contracts abroad and better their lives and that of their family members," he stated.

Apart from getting the scratch cards for the players, Adepitan also promised to make funds available for their trip to Abeokuta next month.
