Nigeria: Lulu Honoured

Lagos — A non-governmental organisation based in the United Kingdom, Family Education Helpline UK, last Saturday, bestowed honour on the Presdent of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, amongst of other deserving Africans, at its 'Remember Africa Awards' event held at The Commonwealth Club, opposite Nigeria High Commission on Northumberland Avenue, London.

The organisers noted that "Africa is a continent that is rich in natural resources and has a highly cost-effective labour base; it is for these reasons amongst others, that as continent, it has substantial amount to offer the world and humanity. With so many opportunities open to them, the youth in Africa are beginning to capitalize on their resources. Many new entrepreneurs are emerging, bringing with them innovation, style and strong business acumen".

Lulu, at the ceremony, was handed a glittering plaque "for bringing peace and racial harmony in Africa through football".

Also honoured were Alhaji Sule Lamido, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, "for promoting good governance and democracy in Africa", world-famous television talk-show host Oprah Winfrey of the USA, "for educational projects for girls in Africa" and Mr. Abayomi Blackson, as a mentor to youth in the Commonwealth.

There were also awards for 'Nurses Across The Border', Pastor Peter Omeragbon, Mr. Paul Ufoegbunem Odili and Baroness Amos of the UK House of Lords. The award was received on behalf of Lulu Abdullahi by his special assistant, Mr. Tunde Aderibigbe.
