Angola:Ambassador Visits Consulate in Porto

30 June 2009

Lisbon — The Angolan ambassador to Portugal, José Marcos Barrica, over the weekend learnt about the functioning of the country's Consulate in the northern city of Porto, having manifested his satisfaction at the level of work done in favour of the Angolan community in that city.

At the time, Marcos Barrica heard from the Consul-General of Angola in Porto, Maria de Jesus Ferreira, about the efforts being made to create conditions for a new structure to meet the demand the Consulate in Porto faces.

In fulfilling his agenda, ambassador Marcos Barrica also met with representatives of Angolan associations based in the north and centre of Portugal, having heard and recorded at the time their main concerns.

The ambassador encouraged them to continue on the path of the work they have done for the Angolan diaspora.

In the same city, Marcos Barrica also had the opportunity to visit the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO), having discussed with its officials aspects relating to a possible close co-operation between this hospital and the Republic of Angola.

With the same purpose, the Angolan diplomat also visited the private hospital of Boa Nova da Trofa, which already has a presence, in the health sector, in the province of Benguela in Angola.

"Angola is in a stage of construction and reconstruction of its nfra-structures. We are also investing in education and health, so any co-operation that aims to address the problems the country faces in this domain, and others, is welcome," said José Marcos Barrica.

Marcos Barrica has recently visited the Consulate-General of Angola in Lisbon.
