Nigeria: U.S. Gives $91,464 to Association

Abuja — United States African Development Foundation, an agency of the government of the United States of America, has given a two-year grant, worth $91,464, to the Physically Handicapped Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State (PHAN), which is the apex organisation for all associations of the physically handicapped in the country.

The grant will help augment the organisation's capacity to support tailoring and metal work operations.A statement made available to THISDAY, by the United States Embassy, noted that "specifically, funding will be used to establish metal work and tailoring workshops, purchase equipment, and provide technical assistance and capacity building.

PHAN-Kaduna will contribute $4,233 to cover cost of labour at the workshops and purchase of embroidery and sewing machines. In an effort to support marginalised populations in Africa, the Foundation has signed a grant to benefit a community group in Nigeria."
