Bauchi — Members of the dissolved state Executive Council (Exco) of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Bauchi state have been enjoined to take what happened as an act of God and not a means to rubbish their personalities or political future.
Speaking to THISDAY in an interview in Bauchi, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Tanko Ibrahim Jalam, said that they should know that "power comes from God who gives it and takes at anytime he wants".
Jalam further encouraged them to take the action as part of their sacrifice for the unity and stability of the party at the state and national level in general as well as for the growth and development of Bauchi state.
He also appealed to the state Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda, to "in his characteristic manner continue to carry everybody along in the scheme of things as he did even when he was a minister", stressing that the socio-economic and political development of the state is the responsibility of all and sundry.
According to him, "the success of the PDP in the 2011 polls depends largely on its ability to stand and work as a family, united and cohesive entity. We should avoid anything that will bring disunity or crisis in the party in the state", saying that "with the homecoming of Governor Yuguda, the PDP will be better for it, after all, he was a founding member of the party".While highlighting the various achievements recorded by the Yuguda administration in the state in the last two years, he pointed out that "Governor Yuguda in his commitment to fulfill his campaign promises has adopted the principles of social advocacy and integrative democracy".He added that "Malam Isa Yuguda's approach to matters of governance is geared towards ensuring that the aggregate of promises made to the people of Bauchi during the campaign in 2007 is consistent with the way and manner the affairs and ship of the state is being steered".
