Harare — ZIMBABWE Aids Network, in collaboration with the National Aids Council and other stakeholders, will tomorrow celebrate the 26th Annual International Candlelight Memorial in Harare.
Speaking at a Press conference yesterday, ZAN national director Mrs Lindiwe Chaza Jangira, said the Candlelight Memorial was held to remember all who have died and those infected and affected by the Aids pandemic. The commemoration is used to share information, lobby policymakers and create community dialogue about the disease.
"The memorial seeks to increase awareness of the disease, while promoting grassroots participation and support to the response to HIV and Aids," she said.
"In large cities, it brings together a diverse spectrum of people to offer solidarity to those infected and affected by HIV and Aids.
"Candlelight Memorial is an opportunity to promote local Aids services, encourages education, community dialogue and advocate for the advancement of public policy."
