Cameroon: Lt. Col Ayissi Honoured at CISM

He supervised the conduct of the 5th world women's military football championship in USA.

Lieutenant colonel Dieudonné Ayissi is known in Cameroon as the president of the Cameroon Shooting Sports Federation but what most people don't know is that, he is also president of the football committee of the World military sports organisation, CISM. In that capacity, Lieutenant Colonel Dieudonné Ayissi supervised the technical organisation of the 5th world women's military football championship in Mississippi-United States of America that took place from June 3-14, 2009. He was president of the homologation committee and decided on the choice of officials to handle matches. It is worthy to note that Lieutenant Colonel Ayissi is the only African who is president of a sport discipline committee of the 24 that exist at CISM, an organisation where another Cameroonian, Col Kalkaba Malboum is one of the vice presidents. Ayissi's only regrets is that no team from Africa took part in the competition even Cameroon, which has two top officials in the organisation. The competition which saw Brazil emerge as champions saw the participation of countries like the Netherlands, France, Canada, Korea, Germany and host country, USA. He says nothing stops Cameroon from taking part in the yearly competition which will take place next year in France especially as participation is by invitation and the host country takes charge of accommodation and feeding. Besides he said Cameroon is an affiliated member of CISM since 1970 and is up to date with its contributions. The organisation has 133 member countries. What is needed is just the political will to participate in the games just as their male counter parts have been doing. The military lions won the African cup of Nations in 2006 in Yaounde and 2008 in Kampala-Uganda.
