Uganda: CEOs to Discuss CSR Today

30 June 2009

Kampala — BUSINESS leaders from various industries will today converge at Hotel Africana, Kampala to share experiences and best practices on how best local companies can streamline CSR programmes into their businesses.

Experts have predicted that as many companies seek to edge themselves against the perceived risks associated with the raging financial crisis, CSR initiatives are likely to be rolled back, further causing distress amongst the recipients of corporate generosity.

The premier CSR Dialogue themed: "Promoting and Shaping Corporate Social Responsibility in Uganda," is the brain child of the Uganda Chapter for Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives, CSR Consultative Group and DED Uganda.

David Katamba, the CSR Consultative Group chairman, said the dialogue seeks to create a common understanding of the challenges and opportunities that many business encounter as they carry out their respective CSR interventions. He said Uganda had reached a critical stage in CSR initiatives.
