Rwanda:Financial Crisis Handicaps Third Division Clubs

Kigali — THE future of many junior and third division teams hangs in a balance following their failure to garner adequate sponsorship.

The teams, who enjoyed valuable sponsorship from Bralirwa during the 2004/2005 season are struggling to survive.

In the aftermath of Bralirwa terminating their sponsorship, Rwanda's football governing body, Ferwafa came to their rescue before backing out after failing to sustain the clubs' requirements.

Ferwafa went on to suspend the third division league. "The federation didn't have money to finance these clubs, as you can see we don't have any sponsor," said Jules Kalisa, Ferwafa's chief executive office.
