Sixteen drivers have confirmed participation in the second round of the National Rally Championship slated for Sunday in Dar es Salaam.
Dar es Salaam Motor Club chairman Irfaan Aladin said they were contented by a big number of drivers who confirmed to take part.
"All drivers are brilliant and ready to compete it's our hope the tournament will be thrilling," Aladin said.
According to him, should all drivers live up to their words, it would be a significant mark towards reviving motor sport in the country.
It would be the second rally event to be held in this season after the Kobil Rally, which took place in Dar es Salaam in February.
The chairman said the host club has eight drivers registered for the rally.
Dar es Salaam drivers include; Salim Haji, Randeep Birdi, Jamil Khan, Kirit Pandya, Dharam Pandya, Kelvin Taylor, Kelvin Taylor and Jamhuri Taylor.
Tanga would be represented by Aliasgher Papu, Ally Kiraka, Hassan Capuchino and Hassan Digalu while Arusha has Navraj Hans, Hassan Tindiga and the defending champion Gamdust Haji.
Patrice Comtois and Sameer Nahdi Shanto are the drivers who would represent Morogoro in the tournament.
Supervised by the Automobile Association of Tanzania, the tournament would involve a Nairobi-based driver Anwar Pandya.
Pandya has been competing regularly in several local events in the past five years.
Bird is the leading driver in the national championship with 80 points, followed by Salim Haji who holds 60 points.
