Pieces of information picked up by the Accra File indicate that traders in the Central Business District (CBD) have developed a new method of trading.
The hawkers are now outwitting the security and metro guards and hawking on the streets.
The modus operandi of these hawkers is that they hold black bags and approach prospective buyers who find their way to the market.
Others also carry small quantities of their wares, and roam on the pavements while the deployed police look on.
With the coming on the rains, most of the hawkers, especially book vendors, cannot do any brisk business and just rain insults on the President and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
An exclusive interview with the staff of the assembly, who spoke on anonymity, they said this was the first phase of the exercise, and that the exercise was meant for good.
He warned that the exercise was still ongoing, and that the assembly was not leaving any stone unturned in it's quest of transforming the capital city.
