1 July 2009

Two ex-fighters, members of the Army Division with the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL), were slapped with 15 years each Tuesday for armed robbery after they pleaded guilty.

Alvin David and Josiah Weah admitted to armed robbing the Deputy Minister of National Security, Peter Zayzay, on March 4,2009 in his Sinkor resident wounding in severely in the face. The court should have sentenced them for 20 years in keeping with statue, but they received a lesser sentence because of their guilty plea.

As judge Evelyna Quaqua handed down her verdict, the accused looked up in the ceiling and later buried their faces in their palms.
