Nigeria: Siasia Holds Talks With Players' Clubs

2 July 2009

Lagos — Flying Eagles coach Samson Siasia may have given his wards a 10-day recess, but the coach himself is taking no such break as he headed off to Europe at the weekend. It was learnt yesterday that part of Siasia's trip is to meet with midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim's club coach to discuss the player's state of readiness for the World Youth Championships later this year.

Siasia is also using the time to personally assess players scouted by his assistant Simon Kalika. "Samson is here in Holland with me and I think all is well as regards the preparations of the Flying Eagles for the WYC," Kalika informed KickOffNigeria.com yesterday.

"We are discussing tomorrow (today) the list of players that will go for the training tour in Qatar.

"Samson should be back in Nigeria before the weekend but I believe that we are gradually having the players that can prosecute the World Cup. We just need to fine tune them and this could be achieved at the camp site in Qatar," the Dutchman stated.

Kalika is expected to be in Nigeria with Siasia this weekend in time for the resumption of training.
