Cyrian, a class one pupil in the Odza neighbourhood in Yaounde was a victim of rape last June 2, 2009.
The 15th police station in Odza, a Yaounde neighbourhood, was in total confusion last Thursday, June 25. A six-year old girl whose names were got as Cyrian, a class one pupil of the Government Primary School Minkan, Odza, was a victim of rape last June 2 in Mimboman. Reports say the victim was raped by her step father, whose names were also got as Philippe Y (48), a builder by profession. According to the report, the P.Y. and his family live in Odza but moved to the family home in the Mimboman neighbourhood last June 1 to participate in the epaulet ceremony of a relative.
After feasting during the day, the whole family went to immortalise the celebration in a night club in town. Only Cyrian and her mother Marie Denise stayed at home. The happy family members came back home at 3:00 a.m. and met the two sleeping. P.Y. joined his wife and daughter in bed which is normal. At 5:00 a.m. Marie woke up to prepare breakfast for the family. It was then that P.Y. took the opportunity to commit his atrocities. He raped the little girl and according to her, P.Y. warned her that if she told her mother he would kill her with a knife. As the days went by, Mrs Y. noticed that her daughter was developing rashes on her body and the stomach was swollen. Little Cyrian kept the secret until one day when she was watching television with her mother and she saw a programme with some pornographic scenes. She then told her mother that Papa did the same thing to her. Marie Denise immediately reported the matter to the 15th police station in Odza where P.Y was questioned. Sources at the police station say P.Y refused the accusation against him. But the police used experienced techniques to get him tell the truth saying that he was drunk.
Clinical examinations carried out on the victim revealed that the little girl was sexually abused and has been infected with sexually transmissible diseases. According to our sources, Mr and P.Y. are married for the past four years. He got married to the woman when Cyrian was two years old. According to our source, P.Y. disclosed that they had problems for the past six months and he had sworn that he will destroy her daughter. It is said the rapist has divorced twice. He is presently under police custody as they continue with investigations.
