Kigali — RWANDA's National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has drafted an 18-man provisional team for the first-ever regional sitting volleyball competition to be staged in Kigali later this month.
The week-long event dubbed 'First open sitting volleyball' will attract teams from Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania and Egypt. The event will be staged at the NPC gymnasium at Amahoro. The final team will feature twelve players.
The NPC president Dominique Bizimana has predicted a very competitive tournament since the best two teams from the competition will represent the Great Lakes region at the Sitting Volleyball World Cup slated for November in USA.
Provisional team: Fidele Gatete (UNR), Bernard Ahishakiye (UNR), Prosper Kuramba (UNR), Bernard Hagenimana (UNR), J.Baptise Rutaganda (THT), Eric Ngirinshuti (THT),Theogne Hakizimana (KIVU), Dominique Bizimana (Intwari), J.Bosco Ngizwenimana (Intwari), Callixte Twagirayezu (Intwari), Murema J Baptize (Intwari), James P Rutikanga (Intwari), Desire Serugo (Huye), Jean Rukundo (Huye), Charles Ntagawa (Huye), J.Baptise Gahamanyi (Huye) and Fidele Ntawiha (Huye).
