Kigali — As the 15th liberation day celebrations draw closer, Rwandan political parties have hailed the nation's political path guided by consensus building amongst all political groupings.

Party representatives who spoke during a live broadcast debate said the pillars of consensus building and power sharing among different political party acted as a strong unifying factor for the nation.

"Our history compels us to adopt a non-fighting political line," Liberal Party's first Vice President Odette Nyiramirimo said.

A member of the East African Legislative Assembly, Nyiramirimo stressed that political parties need to collaborate and not to oppose each other, and lauded the power-sharing system that the government has adopted.

Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Denis Polisi and RPF member emphasized that Rwanda must adopt a model that safeguards its people's interests, mentioning that unity among Rwandans is of great importance.

Party stalwarts were making contributions on the achievements of the forum for political parties.

The Forum's Spokesperson, Musa Fazil Harerimana who hails from PDI, said achievements were enormous and hastened to add "there is still a long way to go" to develop the country.

Liberation day this year will be celebrated under the theme "Dignity is our Strength."
