Uganda: Fufa Suspends Coach Ayiekoh

Kampala — In a bid to cub gay practices, the local football governing body, Fufa has suspended Horizon FC coach Charles Ayiekoh and threatened to harshly deal with anyone involved.

Speaking at yesterday's Fufa press briefing, coaches association secretary, Livingstone Kyambadde confirmed that Ayiekoh had since been suspended pending the Police investigations over his alleged role in the sodomy scandal which took place at the just concluded Fufa MTN Inter regional championships.

Two Lira residents and a Kampala based journalist filed their case with the Kitgum road police post in Lira alleging that Ayieko attempted to engage them in gay activities.

"The decision to suspend Ayiekoh comes after the fracas that took place in Lira and our committee has since decided to put him aside as we continue with investigations," said Kyambadde.

Kyambadde added that their association had stepped up in its efforts to get rid of all the other gay suspects that have since been known in the local football circles.

"We intend to get rid of the entire group and I can assure you that as coaches we come up with a comprehensive plan to wipe out the deadly vice," he added.

Fufa publicist Rogers Mulindwa however told the press that the local football governing body had since asked the Criminal Investigations Department to transfer the case from Lira to Kampala. "As the federation we salute the coaches association for the move and we promise to support them in whatever way to ensure that we get rid of such inhuman acts," said Mulindwa.

League giants SC Villa and KCC have each been in the spotlight of harboring gay agents in their ranks, a thing several stakeholders believe has greatly affected their performance.
