Angola: Government Sets Prohibition On Smoking in Public Places

Luanda — The Cabinet Council approved Wednesday the decree establishing a ban on smoking in public places, as well as the creation of the Medical Emergency Institute of Angola.

The Cabinet, gathered under the guidance of President José Eduardo dos Santos, also authorised the implementation of the contract for the improvement, reform and expansion of the Regional Hospital of Luena, in Moxico Province.

The contract of services rendered of technical assistance and advice, celebrated between the national management of the Customs Department and the company The Crown Agents for Overseas Governments and Administration Limited, in the ambit of extending the Programme of Expansion and Modernisation of Customs, was also approved.

The Cabinet also approved the regulations of uniforms and badges of the special staff of the of Fire Services and Immigration and Foreigners Services (SME).

The extraordinary meeting of the government analysed also the private investment projects of the Sociedade Videira de Angola (Angolan Grapevine Society) and a brewery firm, as well as the draft contracts for the partial rehabilitation of the Luanda Water System, Phase II.
