TEN pupils were recently suspended from a secondary school in Windhoek after they were allegedly caught with dagga on the school premises.
According to information received by The Namibian, the pupils were reported to the school management by a member of the Students' Representative Council (SRC), who had apparently spotted them buying the drugs at a house near the school.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Ester Paulus, yesterday confirmed that the children had been suspended and sent for drug rehabilitation, and that they have since returned to school.
The boy who blew the whistle on them was sent home for his own safety after his family said he had received threats of violence.
When contacted by The Namibian, Ella Du Plessis principal Seth January said only that the school has of late been faced with the issue of drugs in the community.
The father of the boy sent home said this week that he regarded the matter as resolved, and that his son has returned to school following a meeting with the school management.
