Nigeria: Goldcrest Communications, GMC Institute Nigerian Auto Media Awards

2 July 2009

Lagos — In line with global practice where auto-journalists have become the recognized and credible body that bestows awards to deserving stakeholders in the auto industries, Goldcrest Communications Limited in collaboration with the Nigerian Guild of Motoring Correspondents has announced the institution of the Nigerian Auto Media Awards.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Goldcrest Communications, Mr. Frank Okechukwu, the initiative was consummated to raise the standard and banner of stakeholders in the automobile industry in the country, noting that auto correspondents are more attuned to the stakeholders and are also equipped with relevant information and statistics upon which to base their assessment.

Speaking on the credibility of the awards, Okechukwu noted that the Nigerian guild of motoring correspondents is like a lubricant that oils the auto industry in the country in view of the significant role it plays by opening up the industry with its informative report and articles thereby shaping and contributing immensely to the growth of the automobile industry.

Motoring journalists, he appraised, have fully identified with the dreams and aspirations of the auto dealers, operators and other stakeholders, rising up to the defense of the sector at its critical moment and by essence raising the profile of the industry.

"This collaboration and endorsement by the Guild on the Award/lecture is a further confirmation of their relentless drive to inject new blood into the sector by bestowing recognition to deserving stakeholders," he stated.

He was optimistic that the initiative will encourage stakeholders to live up to expectations in the industry and to strive for more, better service, which ultimately will translate to the development of more profitable, innovative products/services to the satisfaction of Nigerian auto market.
