Gambia: Sifoe Farm Manager Arrested, Detained

Reliable information gathered by Foroyaa has it that Mr. Karapha Sanneh; the manager for the Sifoe Farm in Kombo South District was on Thursday 25th June, arrested in Brikama by plain clothes officers while he was on board the same vehicle with a National Assembly Member (name withheld).

He was said to have been detained at Yundum Police Station shortly after his arrest.

Mr. Sanneh's family confirmed his arrest and subsequent detention. They told Foroyaa that Sanneh is currently being detained at the Headquarters of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) in Banjul. They stated that they are allowed frequent visits to him since his arrest. They said they did not know the reason (s) that triggered his arrest and detention.

They stated that they know that he was a hard working manager at the Sifoe Farm. They added that Sanneh is also in charge of sand mining within the area. They said they cannot connect his arrest to any thing as at now.

Mr. Karapha Sanneh, a native of Nyofelleh in Kombo South, was well known within the area for his APRC activities.
