The Kanifing Municipal Council Youths Fans' Club and Zingunchor Youths Fans' Club, last Sunday, met at the KMC Chambers to form a joint commission and to elect the first ever executive for the joint commission.
Attended by an eleven-member delegation from both sides, this is part of commitments to further strengthen the already existing tie between the two municipalities. This relationship between the two clubs started last year with the aim of creating avenues for the two clubs to shoulder certain responsibilities that might not be undertaken by a single association. Pierre Minteh, the president of the KMC Youths Fans' Club, was elected the president of the joint commission while his counterpart from Zingunchor, Alieu Bachilly, was elected vice president.
During the occasion, members of the joint commission vowed once more to sustain the bilateral relationship and also to work hand-in-hand in the interest of the two countries. Speaking on behalf of KMC Youths Fans' Club, the newly elected president of the commission, Pierre Minteh, said that the bilateral relationship between his club and Zingunchor, has been a fruitful one. He said the aim of the visit of their counterparts was to create a more perfect union that will enable both associations to work effectively. He made it clear that Gambia and Senegal are countries of the same values and that there is no difference between his club and that of Zingunchor.
Alieu Bachilly, president of Zingunchor Youths Fans' Club, who is also the head of the delegation, expressed delight over the welcome accorded them by their counterparts. He revealed that the relationship that exists between the two clubs is already a success. Modou Lamin Badjie, the councillor of Ebo Town Ward also expressed similar sentiments.
