"I am one of the longest serving police officers in this country," the officer told The Analyst. "I know, and many in the public realm know, that some if not most past police directors had very little or no security and police training before their appointments; and some did well while on the job. Comparatively, therefore, and if security-or-police-related training is automatic prerequisite for success, then I believe the newly appointed Police Director will make a huge difference. Rarely do police directors bring to this LNP such knowledge, training and experience that Inspector Amblard brings with him."
A Capitol Building source said it is just a matter of time before Amblard is confirmed by the Senate, because the curriculum vitae he presented appears to appeal to a couple of influential persons at the Legislature.
"Some of these legislative influential people know that there were people who were smuggled to the enviable position of Police Director without an iota of basic knowledge and experience in police science," the Legislative source asserted.
"What about someone like Amblard who has acquired substantive training and experience. While he cannot fight crime alone, certainly, his exposure to situations in sophisticated societies, such as the United States , in dealing with crime, coupled with his vast administrative cloud, is a reassurance that much will be done by the new police chief."
Amblard is a no-none sense administrator, said an NSA officer who worked with the Inspector General-Designate for several years.
"He is a calm and unassuming administrator and cop," the officer who also does not want to be named, said. "His passion for security and order is overwhelmingly evident in his daily administrative and operational routine. Liberians must give him time, put him to test and wait and see the results. We should not kill his vision and its dividend so soon. He could be the true messiah against crime and corruption. Who knows..."
