Angola: MPLA Gives Vote of Confidence to Government

2 July 2009

Luanda — Ruling MPLA parliamentary group on Thursday here expressed its confidence to the Angolan Government, recommending more attention to living and basic housing conditions of the communities, mainly those in suburban and rural areas, Angop has learnt.

It is expressed in a statement issued by MPLA bench presented during a plenary session of the National Assembly summoned to debate and approve the bills of revision of the state budget and the national plan for 2009.

According to the statement read by the chairperson of the bench, Bornito de Sousa, the above mentioned documents assure a stand of prudence in macroeconomics management, mainly with regard to oil medium price.

He mentioned that due to the world financial and economic crisis fiscal incomes will be reduced with regard to the previous estimates, adding that although this situation, it will continue giving priority to energy, water, social and housing infrastructures fundamental for development.

On the political statement, MPLA says that the national plan and the state budget for 2009 will not set Angola towards macroeconomics depression, but that has the merit of putting the Angolan economy in the way of slow, but secure growth, improvement of living standards of moderated people, but sustained ones

The document adds that the non-oil sector will continue growing at 15.4 per cent, expecting maintenance of a national growth of 6,2 per cent.
