Angola: Minister Happy to Meet With Civil Society

Cabinda — The Angolan Minister Without Portfolio, António Bento Bembe, said he was happy with the way the chieftains and the church representatives in northern Cabinda province abide by the message on the responsibility to actively co-participate in consolidation of peace in the region.

Bento Bembe is in Cabinda since Friday to monitor the observation and respect of human rights.

According to the official, the meeting held in Cabinda city and at the headquarters of Belize district, with chieftains from Cabinda, Cacongo, Buco-Zau and Belize as well as the church officials, was positive.

The minister transmitted them the main steps toward the application and how the process of Memorandum of Understanding has been handled as well as the Special Status for Cabinda. He underlined that the participation of all in this process is important.

"The Angolan government has been accomplishing with the protocol", stressed the minister who called on the traditional authorities and church officials to cooperate with the executive so that the consolidation of peace become more and more solid, allowing the local development.
