Uganda/Sudan: Best Ceremony Ever

3 July 2009

Hosts Sudan Football Federation and El Merreikh Investment Group of Companies, the sponsors of this year's Kagame Club Championships gave the event one of it's best opening ceremonies ever on Tuesday night at the El Merreikh stadium. It was the best ever opening ceremony in the history of Cecafa with some excellent dancing groups and beautiful fireworks display. The ceremony was very organized and could easily pass for an opening ceremony of an All Africa Games event.

KCC players bonus

Management of Kampala City Council (KCC) has promised all players fifty per cent of the total cash prize if they win at the on-going Kagame Club Championship in Sudan. Team manager Hamid Jumah told Daily Monitor at Palace Hotel that the players are aware of what their take will be when they perform well in this regional tournament. "This is another way of motivating the players because they have also been very busy this season and given a good account of themselves both in the local and international scene.

Merreikh takeover

The management of El Merreikh Football Club under the Presidency of Jamal Allawali has rendered the Cecafa team useless after handling basically everything at the tournament. "We are over whelmed by the levels of organisation by the sponsors and the rate at which they want to handle every detail," said a Cecafa official who did not want to be mentioned. The sponsors have gone a step further to provide an excellent media center at the stadium and also provide training jerseys and footballs for any team that is not able to provide for themselves.
